Project objective

We’re seeking community feedback on our proposal to install a new public toilet in the Berwick Springs Wetlands Reserve. The Berwick Springs Wetlands Reserve Masterplan was endorsed by Council in 2016 to improve the reserve for residents and visitors. As part of the master planning process, we’ve identified the need for a public toilet to service the users of the reserve.

We undertook community engagement in October 2022 to seek feedback on our proposal to upgrade the Berwick Springs Wetlands Reserve west playground which included a new public toilet facility. Following advice provided by Melbourne Water and community feedback, we’ve relocated the public toilet.

We’re proposing to install the new public toilet facilities in a centralised location adjacent to the south playground in the Berwick Springs Wetlands Reserve.

Project impacts

Community feedback will help to identify support or any concerns regarding the proposed public toilet facility and inform Council’s decision on the final location.

The objectives are to:

  • Understand the community sentiment and preferences for the proposed new public toilet facilities.

The achievement of the objectives will:

  • Ensure the new toilet facilities are correctly located and supported by the local community
  • improve the amenity of the reserve for Casey residents (e.g. allow for prolonged social and community connections).

What information do we need from the community?

We’re seeking feedback to understand if our community are supportive of our proposal to install a new public toilet adjacent to the Berwick Springs Wetlands Reserve southern playground.

What can the community influence?

  • The community can provide feedback on the proposed location of the public toilet
  • the look and feel of the new public toilet facility.

What can’t the community influence?

  • Budget allocation for a new public toilet facility
  • accessibility requirements for public toilet facilities
  • safety requirements for public toilet facilities.
