Looking After Pets in Casey

Every council in Victoria, including Casey, must follow the Domestic Animals Act 1994, which ensures pets like dogs and cats are cared for responsibly and do not create issues in the community.

To support this, councils develop a Domestic Animal Management Plan (DAMP), which is reviewed and updated every four years. The DAMP acts as a guide for how Council manages domestic animals and maintains safe, clean public spaces.

Earlier this year, we engaged with the community to help inform the development of the draft plan. Now, we’re inviting you to review the draft and share your feedback to help shape the final version.

The plan includes things like:

  • Making sure pets are registered and easy to identify.
  • Helping people be responsible pet owners.
  • Keeping the community safe from stray or dangerous animals.
  • Supporting programs that help reduce too many unwanted pets.
