Hallam Road duplication and South Gippsland Highway intersection upgrade

What does Casey need?
Why does the Hallam Road duplication / South Gippsland Highway intersection require an upgrade?
VicRoads closed Evans Road at its intersection with Hallam Road and South Gippsland Highway in December 2012 following seven casualty collisions within five years.
Council conducted a survey of Casey residents in January 2013 and found that 75 per cent of respondents from the area believe the Hallam Road and South Gippsland Highway intersection should be upgraded as a high or very high priority.
The upgrade of this intersection is vital for numerous reasons, including:
- The provision of an important road connection between the communities of Lyndhurst and Lynbrook
- Facilitating the opening of Evans Road to through traffic, which is an important arterial route that will improve capacity of the road network in this area
- Supporting the duplication of Hallam Road to the north and improve the key north – south arterial route from Cranbourne West to Endeavour Hills
- Facilitating improved public transport access in the Lynbrook and Lyndhurst areas
- Encourage arterial road traffic to use Hallam Road rather than the surrounding local road network.
