Community Update

Council is currently undertaking works to resolve the current drainage issues at Ackland Park Reserve in Narre Warren North. We are also looking at how we can provide a space that can be used by the community all-year-round.

The proposed drainage upgrade works within the park will aim to reduce the current limited drainage capacity, replace aged drainage infrastructure, and redirect storm water flows to the existing open channel along Robinson Road. This will help mowing contractors safely access the park to mow the reserve, and provide a more useable open space for the community.

It is anticipated that contractors will commence works on site (including installation of temporary fencing) the week commencing Monday 17th July 2023. We anticipate that the works including excavation, installation and laying of new pits and pipes and establishment of grass surface will take approximately 6-8 weeks and be weather dependent.

The drainage upgrade works are targeted to the north and west of the site, including the BMX track. Other areas of Ackland Park will still be accessible during this time including the playground and linking paths.

As part of future park upgrade works, funding has been allocated in the 2023/24 financial year budget for design works to consider options to further improve the reserve going forward. Council will reach out and engage with residents and the local community later in the year for further feedback.
