Council is seeking feedback on the elements required at a new dog-friendly park at Berwick Springs Wetland Reserve.

We are responding to the increased demand and expectation for dog-friendly spaces within this area. Three location options were evaluated as potential locations for the dog-friendly park and two were deemed unsuitable due to possible flooding.

The site selected is an area already highly utilised with numerous amenities, including a tennis court, basketball court, fitness equipment, public toilet, and playground.

As part of our Dog Friendly Spaces Policy we are committed to include:

  • Fencing (with multiple entry/exits)
  • Drinking fountain
  • Seating
  • Bin dispenser
  • Landscaping

We are now seeking feedback on any additional elements you think we could consider at the dog-friendly park in the survey or voting tool.

To provide your feedback, please use one of the following methods:

  • Online via the survey and voting tool on this page
  • Email Samer Bannourah, Infrastructure Planner, cityandassetplanningenquiries@casey.vic.gov.au
  • Phone 03 9705 5200
  • Anonymously via the postal, phone or email details above.

Materials can be provided in printed format upon request.

Please select the +Follow button at the top of this page to receive updates about this project.

Consultation closes Sunday 30 March 2025 at 11.59pm.

How we chose the location

How we chose the location for the dog friendly park

  • Option 1 & 2 - Melbourne Water land

Melbourne Water approved a dog park with secure netting, but City Assets and Planning drainage engineers deemed both sites unsuitable due to flood risks, as shown on the map.

  • Option 3 - Casey land

The third option, near Berwick Springs Tennis Courts, is viable due to no flooding and amenities like courts, fitness equipment, and a playground, making it the best choice.

How you can influence the project

  • Negotiables

    • What the landscaping will look like
    • Location of entry/exit points
    • Pathway connections
    • Location of shelter in the space
  • Non-negotiables

    • Site location (other locations are subject to flooding)
