City of Casey acknowledges the vital contribution that carers make to our community and has a commitment to supporting carers.
A carer is someone who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help and cannot cope without their support. The person they care for may need help because of chronic or palliative illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction. The care they give is unpaid.
Anyone at any time can be a carer. Taking on a caring role is a significant event.
Caring can be very demanding and often restricts the lives of individual carers and their families.
The City of Casey recognises that all individuals and caring situations are unique.
A consultation ran for six weeks until 8 November 2020 and was developed in partnership Uniting Vic Tas and Alfred Health Carers so we can better understand local carer needs, to ensure future planning and service provision meets the needs of carers and importantly supports the journey of a carer.
Results of the survey will be provided when our project team have reviewed the data.
Thank you to all who provided their feedback.
