Casey’s public buildings have a reputation for high quality and design innovation, and to ensure this high standard continues as Casey’s population grows, Council has developed the Casey Design Excellence Program (CDEP).
The CDEP will aim to enhance our public building’s future value by integrating and celebrating design excellence via three components:
- Casey Design Excellence Guide forms part of the Casey Design Excellence Program, which aims to facilitate and promote design excellence in the built environment. It sets our pledge in ten commitments to achieving highest quality design across all elements of the built environment.
- Casey Design Excellence Panel comprises multidisciplinary experts who will provide expert guidance in design review of major projects and master plans, the appointment of architectural and design consultancies, assist with design competitions and provide post implementation reviews of strategic projects.
- Casey Design Excellence Awards will be a key advocacy tool for recognizing design excellence internally and externally. It will also promote the value of design to a broad audience.
A series of co-design workshops were conducted to understand and capture the current state of play, and future design excellence aspirations for relevant staff from early planning through to design and delivery, and ongoing asset maintenance and management.
A holistic approach to design, considering all aspects, stakeholders, and the environment has been taken in the preparation of the CDEP. Council acknowledges that this transformational change will be incremental but steady, and will place Casey as a sector leader in design into the future.
We invite your feedback using the form below on the draft CDEP framework. Consultation closes on 22 January 2022.
