New electoral structure announced for Casey

On Thursday 15 February, the Local Government Minister The Hon. Melissa Horne MP announced that Casey, along with 38 other Victorian local councils, will see changes to electoral structures for the next general elections taking place later this year.

From Saturday 26 October 2024, Casey will change to a single councillor ward structure, comprising of 12 councillors. New names have been allocated to wards, while some existing wards will keep the current name.

The current electoral structure in Casey is 11 councillors, divided into six wards.

The City of Casey has welcomed these changes and was provided with the opportunity to make a submission as part of the review process.

Being one of the largest and fastest growing municipalities in Australia, increasing the number of Councillors to 12 is more reflective of our growing population.

Moving to single councillor wards will also promote fair and equitable representation for voters and support good governance.

Ward boundaries have also been reviewed as part of this process, and our municipality will soon be divided like this:

  • Akoonah Ward - Berwick, Beaconsfield
  • Casuarina Ward - Narre Warren, Narre Warren South, Cranbourne North
  • Correa Ward- Cranbourne North, Cranbourne, Cranbourne East, Clyde North
  • Cranbourne Gardens Ward - Cranbourne West, Cranbourne South, Cranbourne, Junction Village, Botanic Ridge, Devon Meadows, Pearcedale, Cannons Creek, Blind Bight, Warneet
  • Dillwynia Ward - Berwick, Clyde North
  • Grevillea Ward - Narre Warren North, Harkaway, Narre Warren, Berwick
  • Kalora Ward - Lysterfield South, Endeavour Hills, Narre Warren North
  • Kowan Ward - Narre Warre South, Cranbourne North, Berwick
  • Quarters Ward - Lyndhurst, Cranbourne West, Cranbourne
  • River Gum Ward - Hampton Park, Lynbrook
  • Tooradin Ward- Cranbourne East, Clyde North, Clyde, Tooradin
  • Waratah Ward - Doveton, Eumemmering, Hallam, Hampton Park
