Project Information

City of Casey is inviting women and girls aged 16 and over from the local CALD (Cultural and Linguistically Diverse) community to build on their swimming skills and learn how to become a local swimming instructor.

As part of Council’s Enabling Multicultural Women in physical Activity program (EMWAL) and the ongoing #CaseyGirlsCan campaign, we know that CALD women and girls are often more confident undertaking sports like swimming with an instructor who also has a CALD background

As such we're seeking expressions of interest from those within Casey’s diverse cultural backgrounds and who might also speak a language other than English at home, to be part of a new swimming initiative provided by Council’s Active Communities Team.

We are seeking participants who can demonstrate that they can swim, and are willing to undertake a free training course with the potential for further training and potential employment as a swimming instructor at a Casey aquatic centre.

This program also contributes towards #CaseyGirlsCan campaign involving women in sport as part of an active Casey community.

The Swimming Course sessions are to be held at Casey ARC on 21 and 22 May 2022, with swimming trials and selection to occur in early May 2022.

Register your interest below by Friday 29 April 2022!
