Learning and sharing together at the Clyde Community Forum

7 July 2022

On Tuesday 14 June community members, local service organisations and Council staff met at the Clyde Public Hall to kick off discussions regarding the new Family & Community Centre planned for Valetta Street, Clyde. Due to open in early 2023, the new facility will include spaces for kindergarten, maternal and child health and multi-purpose community spaces available to support the delivery of a variety of activities, programs and events for local families and the surrounding community.

A big thank you to Clyde Primary School’s Foundation students for welcoming everyone to the forum by singing ‘Friends of Ten’ and to the Clyde Primary School Captains for sharing an Acknowledgment of Country.

City of Casey talked about walking a journey of partnership with community for the new Family & Community Centre being built in the township of Clyde and together learning about the hopes, dreams and aspirations of community for this centre.

Discussions commenced around what has changed for all members of our community over the last 30 years and the challenges and opportunities of growing up in Clyde. We talked about the meaning of ‘engagement’; why it is important and how we engage with others.

This led our conversations to the next steps for the development of the Family & Community Centre. All of our forum attendees were invited to join a series of workshops scheduled for the next few months where we will continue to learn together about what is needed within our Community Centre and how it can be activated with the essential programs and services that community values.

We are also inviting anyone who lives in Clyde or has connections to Clyde to join in on the workshops to help shape the new Family & Community Centre. To register for the workshops, please click here.
