Council invited all members of the Casey Community to provide input into the Edwin Flack Reserve Master Plan via the completion of a survey on Casey Conversations. Key stakeholders (tenant sporting clubs, surrounding residents/users) and broader Casey community were notified via various methods – email, hardcopy mail drop to surrounding residents, and social media advertisements to promote engagement in the survey.

The feedback from the survey provided great insights and a summary of results obtained are as follows:

  • 136 surveys were completed.
  • 42% of respondents were from Berwick Little Athletics Club, 30% were non club members and 8 % Berwick Football Club.
  • Respondents rated the sporting facilities provided as either – Very Good and Good, whilst non sporting areas of the reserve were considered as either Fair to Poor.
  • 48% of respondents utilised the reserve for playing sport, 44% for personal exercise and 38% to watch sport.
  • Respondents were asked to provide three suggestions for improvements they would like to see at the Reserve.

A high proportion of responses relating to improvements were focused on the athletics track. These included;

  • Built shelter/grandstand
  • Larger pavilion
  • Increase seating

Other suggested improvements within the reserve included;

  • Improve playground
  • Improve/increase car parking
  • Plant more trees
  • Improve public toilet access

Council will now develop the draft Master Plan of the site which will be utilised for further consultation with users and local community prior to implementation.
