Do you want to make a real difference in your community?

The Community Selection Panel Members Group is your chance to do just that! As a member of the group, you will review community grant applications and nominations, and make recommendations to Council on which ones should be funded or awarded. You will also represent your community and provide feedback to Council on matters affecting your community.

This is a fantastic opportunity to use your skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on the lives of your neighbours and the greater Casey community. The group is representative of our diverse community, ensuring a range of different perspectives, cultures, gender and experiences are heard. If you are passionate about making a difference in your community then the Community Selection Panel Members Group is the perfect place for you!

How to apply?

To submit an Expression of Interest, please complete and submit the EOI application (see below) by 5.00 pm on Tuesday 29 August, 2023. Full program details will be provided on acceptance of a program place.

  • Review community grant applications and nominations.
  • Make recommendations to Council on which applications and nominations should be funded or awarded.
  • Represent your community and provide feedback to Council on matters affecting your community.
  • Network with other community members and learn about different ways to get involved in your community.
  • Make a difference in your community and influence Council's grant funding and award winners.
  • Increased network within your community and the opportunity to meet with other community leaders.
  • Feel good about giving back to your community and feel empowered to make a change.
  • Gain new skills and knowledge.
  • See your ideas come to life and be part of a team that is making a difference.
  • Residents of the City of Casey, 18 years and older who care and have a passion about their community.
  • Be able to commit to attend 1-2 panel meetings over a 2-year service period.
  • Be able to complete pre–readings prior to the panel consultation.
  • Community Grant Selection - panels may take up to 30 hours work including pre-reading, individual assessment and attending a group panel meeting.
  • Required volunteer time will be dependent on panel allocation. For example: Community Awards- approximately 6-hours pre-reading time; and one 3-hour in-person selection evening.
  • We are looking for people who represent the geographical representation from across the City of Casey, with a range of cultural backgrounds, abilities, gender, sexual orientation, ages and diversity of personal and life experiences.
  • As a panel member you will have flexibility to accept or decline invitations to participate based on your availability.

  • The Group is responsible for reviewing and recommending funding for community grants totalling over $1 million each year.
