About Future Mobility Casey
Future Mobility Casey is an innovative and collaborative initiative that brings together Council, businesses, the community, and universities to research and explore new ideas to improve how we move within Casey.
Organisations are invited to apply to be part of the "Future Mobility Living Lab", to propose their solutions to make local transportation more efficient, safe, sustainable, and inclusive. The ideas and solutions that best respond to our challenge to create a safe, smart, sustainable, and inclusive mobility in Casey will be workshopped and tested for 6 to 8 months in collaboration with Casey residents.
Pop-up events will also be organised in the first half of 2024, to partner with selected organisations and the community, ensuring collaboration towards our main goal: create solutions for a future where urban transportation is sustainable, accessible, inclusive, and technologically advanced, benefiting both our community and the environment.
Your participation as a Casey resident is essential to help shape services that respond to our community's unique characteristics and needs, so join us to be part of Future Mobility Casey.
Frequently Asked Questions
The Future Mobility Living Lab is a collaborative playground to bring ideas and solutions to life. Through partnerships and open dialogue, it aims to form solutions for our local transportation, fostering future mobility in Casey that is safe, inclusive, and environmentally conscious.
We call this program a Living Lab because it enables real-life testing and trialling of solutions, with different groups working together to try out and test new ideas for transportation. This co-design process allows for better outcomes as more stakeholders are engaged.
Through co-design and ongoing engagement, we can see which solutions show the best signs of solving these complex problems of making Casey safer, more inclusive and sustainable.
All community members are invited to provide input and feedback by participating in workshops, pop-up events, and trials of various solutions proposed by the Future Mobility Living Lab trial, pop up and research partners. The City of Casey Council will launch grant funding and expression of interest forms for businesses, start-ups, social enterprises, universities, and research institutes to run extended trials.
These organisations can propose solutions that address safety, inclusion and environmental issues in mobility.
If selected, they can get Council support and work with the community to deliver these trials between December 2023 and July 2024.
We will also provide a series of pop-up opportunities related to each challenge for local businesses to engage and present potential solutions as part of these longer trials. Stimulating engagement and creating further collaboration opportunities with local businesses, community and trial partners.
The most critical part of these projects will be the involvement of the council, local businesses, and businesses we aim to attract to invest in Casey and its residents. By developing and testing solutions together, we can ensure that Casey's future mobility responds to the specific needs of the residents. This is the exciting part of the City of Casey Living Labs. We ask you, the community, businesses, social enterprises, research institutions and others, to tell us how these problems can be solved. We are here to help.
This might include testing new technologies, such as smart transportation Apps, electric bikes, EV vehicles, bike-sharing, car-sharing, ride-sharing services and more.
We also want to enable research conducted by universities and research institutes to provide recommendations for the Council and community to consider in future transport planning (for example, around the creation of pedestrian and cyclist-friendly Infrastructure or other priorities indicated by the local community). This can also be shared with other councils.
The goal is to find inclusive, safe, and environmentally sustainable ways for Casey residents to move around the city; organisations are free to submit their projects and solutions as long as they strongly align with these priorities for local mobility.Pop-up events are in-person events that will be held in the first half of 2024 in various Community Hubs across Casey, with each pop-up focusing on one specific challenge culminating in a unified pop-up afterwards.
The community, local businesses, social enterprises, and research institutions will experience and interact directly with innovative mobility solutions and technologies. It's a unique opportunity to see these ideas and understand how they can improve transportation first-hand.
Our Future Mobility Pop-Ups will allow everyone to provide feedback new ideas, and raise issues and challenges and preferences on the future solutions that may form part of the research. You can connect with other residents and local organisations interested in improving mobility in Casey.
By joining the Pop Up events, you can actively contribute to positive change in our community and engage in a fun, enjoyable and enriching collaboration experience!
