Advocating for local jobs
Consultation has concluded
As a resident of the City of Casey, we would like to hear from you if you think it is important to work close to home.
Currently Casey has a significant jobs deficit, the second worst of all the growth areas in Melbourne. Seventy- six per cent of Casey’s working population leave the municipality every day to work somewhere else.
Casey needs funding commitments from the State Government to support the attraction of new investment into the Casey-Cardinia region to create new employment opportunities.

What do you think about construction of a Business Incubator?
over 6 years agoCouncil is seeking funding from the State and Federal Governments for the development of a regional business incubator facility. It is anticipated that Monash University will assist in a bid for Regional Development Australia funding for part financing of the incubator in early 2014.
A regional business incubator will help to create new job opportunities for local people.
Other municipalities in Victoria are providing business incubators to assist local businesses. Failure to introduce a business incubator in the Casey-Cardinia region may stifle the growth of local businesses. Local businesses may choose to move out of the area to benefit from support facilities elsewhere.
The loss of emerging businesses would have a great impact on future employment opportunities in the region.

The development of the Port of Hastings represents a significant economic opportunity for the City of Casey that is likely to bring many local job opportunities.
Council supports the State Government’s renewed commitment to the project and is urging the Government to deliver on its promise of completing the Port of Hastings within the next decade.
Council looks forward to working with the Government on the detailed planning and environmental assessments, for the port, and its related transport infrastructure, that will need to be undertaken due to its unique and ecologically-sensitive environment.
