Project update
Thank you to everyone who voted for their preferred name for the new recreation reserve in Tulliallan Estate, Cranbourne North.
The results are in, with 154 votes received:
- Kowan Recreation Reserve – 91 votes (45.75%)
- Topiram Recreation Reserve – 38 votes (24.68%)
- Perripe Recreation Reserve – 25 votes (16.23%)
Council has advised Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC) of the poll result. If BLCAC agrees with the community’s choice of Kowan Recreation Reserve, Council will lodge the proposed name with Geographic Names Victoria (GNV) for approval and registration.
Project Information
Located at 35 Mountainview Boulevard, Cranbourne North, the recreation reserve is now complete and includes three soccer fields, a cricket oval, cricket practice nets, multi-use community pavilion, playground, shared paths, public art and car parking.
In the effort to increase recognition of Casey’s Aboriginal heritage, Council consulted with the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC) regarding appropriate Traditional Owner language for the name of the reserve. BLCAC provided several indigenous words and their meaning for consideration.
