We’re seeking community feedback on a proposal to name the new community centre currently being built at 51 Sovereign Avenue, Clyde North ‘Dharrang Baliṯ Community Centre’, a name provided by the Bunurong Land Council that has strong meaning in the language of the traditional land owners and reflects the purpose of the new facility.

Dharrang Baliṯ means "strong tree" or "mighty tree", which the Elders felt acknowledged the place's connection to Country, as well as the role the future community centre would have in fostering connections between children, parents, and community, much like the roots of a tree.

The proposed name aligns with Geographic Names Victoria’s Naming Rules for Places in Victoria.

Any feedback or objections to the proposed name must be received within 30 days of the date of this notification and must comply with the Geographic Names Victoria (GNV) Naming Rules. Objections must demonstrate that the proposal does not comply with the Naming Rules.
