Project Information

Construction of a new recreation reserve at Lochaven Estate, 8 Tony Way, Cranbourne West is nearing completion. The reserve will include two Australian rules football/cricket ovals, netball courts, cricket training nets, a multi-use community pavilion, playground and public art.

We are seeking community feedback on our proposal to name the reserve McNab Recreation Reserve, in honour of the McNab family who have historical links to the area.

For 100 years, four generations of the McNab family lived on and farmed the property where the new recreation reserve is located.

Generations of the McNab family have been involved in many community organisations in the Cranbourne area, being on committees and leading fundraising efforts for various sporting groups, the Cranbourne Recreation Reserve (now the Cranbourne Turf Club), the Scots Presbyterian Church, and Community Hall. The McNab family were also very successful Guernsey cattle breeders with many champion cows and bulls that were shown at local shows around Gippsland and the Royal Melbourne Show.
