Operation Bounce Back - reducing your risk of opportunistic theft.

The City of Casey in conjunction with the National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council are launching Operation Bounce Back.

Operation Bounce Back is about implementing simple methods to reduce the risk of you becoming a victim of opportunistic theft.

In Australia a car is stolen every 12 minutes.

Casey is rated second in Victoria for car theft. Urgent action is needed to change these statistics. There are simple steps we can take as a community to reduce our chances of becoming a victim of opportunistic theft:

  • Always lock you car - always physically lock your car even at home.
  • Close all windows
  • If possible keep you car locked inside a garage.
  • Park off the street in your driveway if you don't have a garage.
  • Park in a well-lit area to increase the risk that others will detect thieves
  • Consider using a steering wheel lock - particularly for older vehicles.
  • Install a GPS tracking device

The National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council have provided the City of Casey with 80 FREE GPS tracker vouchers. In the event that the vehicle is stolen Victoria Police can tap into the tracking system and locate the vehicle, assisting them to apprehend the thieves safety and swiftly.

There are 80 FREE GPS trackers and 20 x $20 fuel vouchers to win for completing the survey!
Please note: GPS trackers are only available to City of Casey residents who own a registered vehicle and hold a current Victorian drivers licence. Fuel vouchers are available to City of Casey residents only.
