Project Information

Council has a strong vision for our employment areas: Casey’s future employment areas will be vibrant and exciting places with innovative businesses and quality public spaces, which will create local connections, celebrate their heritage and landscapes, and become centres for the jobs of the future and economic growth.

To help achieve this, Council is setting a new good design benchmark for urban design, architecture and landscape architecture in future restricted retail developments across our municipality through the development of The Restricted Retail Design Guide (The Guide).

Employment Land Design Guide Principles

The guide is a technical document that provides built form and public realm design guidance to all future retail developments in Casey which are identified under Planning Victoria’s definition of restricted retail. Refer to the FAQ’s on this page for the definition of Restricted Retail Premises.

This guide is an addendum to the Employment Land Design Guide 2022, which is a design resource to aid the discussion between applicants and Council officers for future development applications related to restricted retail land uses in Casey. It provides key principles and provides recommendations to achieve best practice, sustainable design outcomes for future restricted retail developments. It only applies to new development applications, and will not affect any existing buildings.

Council is seeking input from our Casey community, business owners, staff and developers of restricted retail. Please provide a submission below by 12.00 pm 7 April 2023.

You may provide feedback either using the short survey OR by providing a submission (below).
