Consultation has concluded

Special charge schemes help Council partially fund improvements to roads, footpaths and drains through a once-off charge to the residents that receive special benefit from the works. Special benefits can include improvements to property amenity, access, safety and land value.

Council's Special Charge Scheme Policy aims to provide a fair, equitable and consistent approach to implementing special charge schemes in the City of Casey.

The adopted revised policy includes three significant changes:

  1. Introduces a five-year Special Charge Scheme Program to plan and prioritise the delivery of schemes according to community demand and strategic importance to the municipal road, path and drainage networks
  2. Increases Council's contribution for construction and asphalting of unsealed local roads to 25 percent of the cost of the works
  3. Revises the cost cap per property for construction and asphalting of unsealed collector and secondary arterial roads to $25,000 per property

Council invited your feedback on the draft revised policy until Friday, 28 February 2020.

Feedback from the consultation was considered and adopted at the Council meeting on 19 May 2020.
