Project Information

Council has initiated a proposal to reduce the speed limit from 80km/h to 60km/h on the higher speed sections of South Gippsland Highway through Cranbourne Activity Centre, between Camms Road and Clarendon Street and just south of Codrington Street to Cameron Street.

This will see a more appropriate and consistent speed limit on this section of the highway through the activity centre, in-keeping with its high visitation and need to maximise amenity outcomes, in-line with the Cranbourne Town Centre Structure Plan.

A 60km/h speed limit will also remove the need for the Department of Transport (DoT) to install safety barriers on the higher speed sections of the highway, which would have a significant impact on trees, amenity and cultural heritage of the town centre.

We invite your comment on the proposed speed limit changes by completing the survey below by Monday 13 June 2022.
