About the proposed overflow car park

Wilson Botanic Park in Berwick continues to experience increasing visitation, with up to 7,000 visitors per day and 1,500 cars requiring parking. While the park’s 132 on-site car spaces have served the community, demand now exceeds availability, particularly during peak times such as weekends and holidays.

To address this, Council is proposing an overflow car park at the Kramer Drive entrance, designed to manage excess parking needs during school holidays, public holidays, weekends, and a limited number of special events (including various evening events). The proposed overflow car park will accommodate between 60 - 100 additional vehicles. After assessing multiple locations, this site was chosen for its flat terrain, ability to be locked when not in use, and surface treatment that allows grass growth while supporting up to 8 tonnes of weight.

We invite community feedback to ensure the proposed overflow car park meets local needs while maintaining the park’s accessibility and environmental character.
