Project objective

We’re seeking community feedback to inform an update on the Berwick Village Activity Centre Structure Plan.

Berwick Village Activity Centre is recognised as a key hub by both the State Government and local planning guidelines. The existing Berwick Structure Plan (2011), now over 13 years old and needs a thorough update to make sure it meets the current and future needs of our community.

We want to know areas of improvement and opportunity which will feed into the plan by speaking to the community, to create a dynamic and vibrant future.

Project impacts

Community feedback will help to inform the updated plan and identify areas of improvement or any concerns regarding the area. New ideas not in the current structure plan are also welcomed and encouraged.

What information do we need from the community?

Our community and key stakeholders are invited provide feedback and suggestions on what to include in our updated Berwick Village Activity Centre Structure Plan, which will then feed into the updated draft plan to be endorsed by Council.

What can the community influence?

The community can provide general feedback and influence on the area, opportunities, and issues. There is also an opportunity for the community to get creative and share their vision of the future for the area. At this stage of the project, community has the opportunity to influence what is to be included in the Structure Plan.

What can’t the community influence?

  • The area the structure plan will cover
  • Changes which will impact heritage buildings and sites

How we’re engaging and informing our community

We've selected the following engagement tools and techniques for this project based on the project content, stakeholders, and type of feedback sought.

Key tools for communicating the project

  • Casey Conversations project webpage
  • Email notification to Casey Conversations subscribers and key stakeholder groups
  • Council website news and Casey Catch Up e-newsletter
  • Social media posts
  • Berwick Star – local newspaper
  • Flyers distributed to the local area to residents and businesses
  • Communication with local schools

Key methods for gathering feedback

Online engagement via Casey Conversations, including opportunities to ask questions and provide feedback. This includes an online survey, vision board and an interactive map of the area.

There is a chance for interested community members to ask for further information on the Q+A page.

Decision-making process

Phase one of our community and stakeholder consultation to inform the draft Structure Plan will be held for a six-week period from Tuesday 12 March 2024– Tuesday 23 April 2024 (5pm).

Community feedback will be collated by the team to feed into the draft which will be developed between June-November 2024. The draft structure plan will then be endorsed by Council between December 2024-2025.

Phase two of our community and stakeholder consultation on the draft Strcuture Plan will be held for a six-week period between February and March 2025.

Following community feedback, consideration of feedback and further updates on the plan will take place between Apri-June 2025.
