Help Shape the Future of Betula Reserve Playground

Betula Reserve Playground is set for renewal, offering an exciting opportunity to enhance play experiences while respecting its unique natural and cultural heritage. Surrounded by River Red Gums listed on Council’s Significant Tree Register and protected under the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Overlay, the site holds deep environmental and historical significance.

The playground is being renewed in response to feedback in 2024. Community feedback has played a vital role in shaping the draft concept plan, with strong support for softfall surfaces and nature play areas that encourage climbing, swinging, and sliding. The proposed design carefully considers ecological sensitivity, subtly shifting the playground westward to protect Tree Protection Zones while introducing new features like;
  • skytower for canopy views,
  • a swing set for all ages and abilities,
  • and a nature play circuit incorporating timber steppers, logs, and stepping stones.

This renewal aims to create a meaningful, engaging, and educational space that reflects the story of the River Red Gums and the community’s vision. Check out the concept plans for Betula Reserve Playground and let us know what you think.
