2020/21 Budge Community Project Highlights

The 2020/21 Budget snapshot:

  • $536.7 million total budget to deliver for a community of more than 360,000 people
    • $405.1 million operating budget to support Council to provide 66 important services to the Casey community
    • $131.6 million CWP which funds much-needed community infrastructure from roads to sports fields
  • 2 per cent average general rate increase in line with the State Government rate cap and $12 increase in the standard waste charge. Based on the preliminary property valuations, which are waiting certification from by the Victorian Valuer General, the rates will increase by an average of $26.57.

Budget highlights

  • $47.7 million to upgrade and deliver new leisure and recreational facilities
    • Commence construction of new district level soccer and cricket multipurpose community facilities at Tulliallan Estate, Cranbourne North ($9.4m)
    • Construction of new district level AFL, Cricket and Netball facilities at Botanic Ridge Eastern Playing Fields, Botanic Ridge ($7.8m)
    • Commence construction of a new local AFL and cricket facility at Bernley Gardens Estate, Berwick ($1.3m)
  • $44.4 million to improve Casey’s expansive road and path network
    • Continued constructions of Stage 1 Hardys Road intersection works, Clyde North ($9.6m)
    • Continue construction of Missens Road to Thompsons Road end, Cranbourne West ($3.25m)
    • Sealing of road shoulder along sections of Manks Road, Clyde ($442,070)
  • $43.2 million towards Child, Youth and Family services
    • Includes additional funding to keep up with growing demand for services such as kindergarten and Maternal and Child Health consultations
  • $17.7 million towards aged and disability services
    • Includes support to continue the distribution of essential services such as Meals on Wheels, volunteer transport and respite care
  • $8.5 million to upgrade and deliver new community facilities
    • Continued construction of a new Integrated Community Hub at Cranbourne West ($3.36m)
    • Commence construction of new Family and Community Centre at Elliston Estate, Clyde Village ($3.97m)
    • Commence design for new Family and Community Centre, Clyde Township ($208,000)
  • $3.5 million renewing Casey’s buildings
    • Building renewal and upgrade works at Strong Drive Children’s Centre, Hampton Park ($1.33m)
    • Commence renewal works at Cranbourne Senior Citizens Centre, Cranbourne ($457,410)
    • Commence renewal works at Clarendon Street Children’s Centre, Cranbourne ($299,940)
