The Ask

Council is advocating for $50 million to investigate and improve bus services across the City of Casey as part of our commitment to increase bus services. We need state commitment to ensure equitable transport access that connects residents to jobs, education, and essential services.

Council is seeking:

  • More frequent bus services to reduce waiting times and improve reliability, including increased service frequency on Route 928.
  • Better integration with the rail network, including timetable coordination with train services.
  • Simpler and more direct routes to improve network legibility and reduce travel times.
  • Optimisation of existing services, including route realignments where needed to better serve communities.
  • Smarter supporting infrastructure to improve bus performance and customer experience.
  • Early provision of bus services in growth areas, with services operating from first occupancy and expanding as populations grow.

As part of this broader advocacy, Council is also seeking the following targeted bus network coverage improvements:

  1. Re‑route Route 897 to service new residential estates east of Lyndhurst Boulevard.
  2. Introduce a new or extend bus service for estates north of Ballarto Road, between Clyde–Five Ways Road and the South Gippsland Highway (estates surrounding Casey Fields).
  3. Extend an existing bus route to service estates off Clyde–Five Ways Road, north of Ballarto Road (Belmond on Clyde and Eliston estates).
  4. Extend an existing bus route to better service residential areas north and south of Glasscocks Road, between Sherwood Road and Narre Warren–Cranbourne Road.
  5. Introduce a new or extend bus service to service Botanic Ridge estates west of Craig Road, between the South Gippsland Highway and Browns Road.
  6. Introduce a new or extend bus service to service estates north of Ballarto Road, west of Muddy Gates Lane (Riverfield and Evergreen estates).
  7. Extend existing bus route to provide additional service options for estates north and south of O’Shea Road, and Greaves Road
  8. Re-routing of existing bus service via Hampton Park SC
  9. Provide a more direct and frequent service for Casey’s coastal villages and investigate the suitability of on‑demand services (such as FlexiRide)
  10. Introduce a new or extend bus service from Tooradin to Frankston via Baxter
  11. Extend an existing bus route from Pearcedale to Clyde via Botanic Ridge
  12. Extend an existing bus route to provide public transport access to Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park.
