The City of Casey would like to hear from you about the future of our library services.

In October this year the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire Council’s announced that the Casey Cardinia Library (CCL) Corporation would be dissolved from December 2022.

While the transition to a different service model will mean changes behind the scenes, there is no intent from either council to reduce library services, and instead continue to improve and enhance the much-loved and valued library services.

Now that a decision has been made, both Council's will independently go out to market to find a partner consistent with the requirements under the new LGA.

Regardless of whether Council’s pursue an insourced or outsourced service model, there will be a strong focus on the continuity of library services, with no intention for Council to profit from this service.

Prior to the commencement of this tender process, the City of Casey would like to understand the needs and wants of our library community, to identify what we are doing well and where there might be some room for improvement. This is also an opportunity for Council to understand why people utilise our library services and look for any opportunities to make enhancements.

From 15 November – Sunday 5 December Council will conduct community engagement on our library services, which will also include deliberative engagement whereby we will seek direct feedback from some of our local library users. This engagement will give the community a chance to contribute to a new vision for the libraries, and have their say on the Draft Casey Libraries Strategic Service Plan.

Council is seeking feedback from all members of our community, including regular library users, members and non-members, to help further improve our service provision in this area, and ensure our libraries are fit for purpose.

Libraries within the City of Casey include:

  • Bunjil Place (Narre Warren)
  • Cranbourne
  • Doveton
  • Endeavour Hills, and
  • Hampton Park

Please have your say and tell us why you use our libraries, what prevents you from doing so and what you would like to see in future library services in Casey.
