Project info

The City of Casey is pursuing funding opportunities via the Victorian Government’s 2022 Community Cricket Program.

The objectives of the program are to facilitate active and healthy communities need for high-quality, accessible, well-designed and well managed infrastructure to conduct sport and active recreation activities.

Developing cricket facilities that support participation and inclusion of women and girls and other under-represented groups along with disadvantaged communities, while boosting local economic activity is a priority for the Victorian Government.

Successful projects will address the key facility challenges identified for cricket in Victoria:

  • ground availability and capacity
  • limited/lack of open space
  • condition of training facilities
  • female friendly and inclusive facility design
  • loss of access to school sites
  • playing field sizes
  • winter/summer ‘seasonal creep’
  • quality and use of Premier Cricket facilities

Council has identified K.M. Reedy Reserve as a project that is in line with the Programs objectives and address key facility challenges.

These projects are nominated in the City of Casey short term capital works program, with the intention of delivering the infrastructure required to provide opportunities for increased active recreation and opportunities for increased participation in community sport.

If the 2022 Community Cricket Program applications are successful, works are expected to commence in late 2022. We are excited to be providing health and wellness opportunities for the community at large, as well as supporting existing sporting clubs.
