Big projects for a connected community
A big population needs a big transport network to enable better and safer travel to all the places we need to go. Working with State and Federal Government on major rail and transport upgrades was listed by most residents as the most urgent issue for Council in 2020/21.
We understand the need for a safe and reliable network. Council is working with Victoria’s Big Build project on Level Crossing Removal and Major Road Projects Victoria. As part of this work we are supporting best possible outcomes, reviewing designs and checking in with our community.
Some of the major projects underway include:
- Stage 2 of the Monash Freeway upgrade - 36kms of new lanes on the Monash and Princes Freeways and upgrade and extend O’Shea Road. Council is calling for noise reducing features to respond to local community concerns.
- New Merinda Park Station – on the Cranbourne Line and extensions to the line. Community needs a new and accessible station.
- Clyde Road level crossing removal – removing another dangerous trap for drivers and vital upgrade to the area. Council would welcome a commitment to rebuild Berwick station.
Its no surprise that there is a big impact on traffic during construction works. Check out the Victoria's Big Buildon the many big projects underway and when to avoid key areas to avoid delays.
