The Ask
Currently the City of Casey is home to only one Headspace Centre, located in Narre Warren, and it sees a caseload of twice the national average. The City of Casey is home to one of the country’s largest populations of young people with more than 75,000 residents aged between 10 and 24 years, with this population expected to grow to more than 114,000 by 2046. Transport options to the Narre Warren Headspace site are limited and often lengthy, particularly for young people living in the 3977 and 3978 postcodes. Travel times for young people to Narre Warren Headspace via public transport vary from 50 minutes to 1 hr 30 minutes (or more) one way depending on where they begin their journey. Council is very appreciative for the Government’s commitment for the Cranbourne Mental Health Hub following their election announcement in 2025. We look forward to seeing this project progress. A new Headspace satellite service centre is desperately needed in the City of Casey, located within the city's significant growth area catchments of Cranbourne and Clyde. |
