On 28 July 2022, with the approval of Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC), Council put forward two Indigenous words for the name of the new recreation reserve currently under construction at 41 Orchard Park Drive, Botanic Ridge (formally known as 81-83 Browns Road, Botanic Ridge Vic 3977). The community were given the opportunity to vote on the preferred name on Casey Conversations.

The result of the vote in order of the preferred names was:

• Booring Recreation Reserve – (translates to bandicoot) 54.25%
• Bun Ger Look Recreation Reserve – (translates to stringy bark)– 45.75%

The name with the most votes, Booring Recreation Reserve, will be submitted to BLCAC and Geographic Names Victoria (GNV) for final approval.
