The City of Casey is seeking support to upgrade the intersection at Princes Highway and Coniston Avenue in Berwick, at the entrance to Wilson Botanic Park.

The upgrade would include a signalised intersection on the Princes Highway at Coniston Avenue and Wilson Botanic Park access road, including pedestrian crossings to bus stops and street lighting upgrades.

The City of Casey has advocated for improving this intersection for several years. The necessity has been well documented by the number of incidents including pedestrian fatalities in 2017 and 2023.

More than 600,000 people visit Wilson Botanic Park each year, and this figure does not account for number of non-visitor vehicles that pass through this intersection.

This upgrade is vital for the ongoing safety of motorists and pedestrians navigating this intersection.
